Hamstring Strains

Hamstring Strains are caused by an over-stretch, tear, or rupture of one of the hamstring muscles. The hamstring muscles consist of the biceps femoris, semitendinosus, and semimembranosus.

Hamstring strains are common in explosive stop-start running sports, often occurring at the beginning of events when not properly warmed up or at the end of events when fatigued.  They typically present instantly as sudden and sharp pain.  Swelling and bruising usually follow.

Hamstring strains may recur if healing and strengthening is not completed properly before returning to activity.  If untreated, scar tissue may form and make the hamstring more prone to re-injury.

Use The Shark Fin tendonitis tool's Standard Treatment Protocol to treat your hamstring injury and encourage the healing process. Watch the instructional video below to see how to treat the hamstrings using your tendonitis tool.
