Determining the Treatment Area

The Shark TM tendonitis tool The Shark TM tendonitis tool A sore muscle is an indication of what needs to be treated with The Shark Fin tendonitis tool.

To determine the injured area, simply touch each muscle from where it starts at the joint and work out into the muscle, which we will call the muscle belly. Begin at the origin and move into the belly. As a rule of thumb, the origin of the muscle is the point at which it attaches to a bone, and the insertion is the end of the muscle attaching to the freely moving bone of that joint.

When exploring the area that is injured, begin directly over the area of the body that is tender. With a washable marker, mark the tender area on your body. From there, use your finger to apply pressure up from that spot until you reach a point where the tissue is not tender; mark that spot; next feel down from the original spot to where the muscle is not tender.  The injured area is now outlined.

Now, from the original mark move to the left in half inch increments. If the tenderness continues to the left and to the right, palpate the muscles up and down to find the borders of the injured area. This is the simplest way to find all of the injured muscles and will make treatment easier.

The illustrations for each condition/injury on the right can be used as a map to figure out exactly which muscle you are working on.
